Sketch vs Finished Meme - Meikyuu

For a long time I have wanted a meme that lets you show a before and after of the same picture in your drawing process. What my sketches depict isn't always preserved through to the finished picture, and it's always interesting to me how that happens, but I'm the only one who sees that process. I thought it would be nice to be able to share a bit of that, so I made my own meme.

First, why in the world are there are nearly three years in between the sketch and the finished picture!? Because I worked on it on and off, and nearly finished it at one point only to leave it because I was dissatisfied with it. The composition wasn't strong enough. So I kept changing things (mostly on the characters) ;v; I finally got to the point this past March where I decided I would redo the entire background and call it done.

I'm still not 100% satisfied with it; the lack of proper light source bothers me and the door frame behind Yami is too flat ;A; But I've literally been working on this picture for FIVE YEARS and I don't want to mess with it anymore lol orz

Second, yes I just said "five" years...because the original concept sketch for this picture was done in 2011 on paper. ;v; If I can find that one I'll edit this to include it too.
